Russia Claims Donetsk Gains, Biden-Zelensky Talk Long-Range Arms, Ukraine Expects Powerful Package
Air raid alerts were heard across Ukraine after Russian military aircraft took off from Belarus airfields. The sirens were heard in Kyiv as US President Joe Biden visited Kyiv for talks with Zelenksy on February 20. Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin claims Russian officials are denying ammunition to his fighters. On February 20, Russia's Defence Ministry claimed its forces have captured the settlement of Paraskovievka, near Bakhmut, days after Wagner's announcement.
Meanwhile, US President Biden hit out at Putin and reaffirmed American support to Kyiv on a surprise visit to Ukraine ahead of the first invasion anniversary. The US says it notified Russia about Biden’s “risky” visit to Kyiv just hours before, for “deconfliction purpose”. Zelensky said he spoke to Biden about long-range weapons that “may still be supplied to Ukraine even though it wasn’t supplied before”.
