Russia Foils Massive Drone Attack, Ukraine Rushes Troops To Bakhmut
Russia’s Defence Ministry says it prevented a massive drone attack on Moscow-annexed Crimea. The head of Ukraine’s land forces has ordered to send more troops to be sent to defend the embattled city of Bakhmut. The Russian military claims Ukraine’s most experienced units have lost up to 70% of their fighters near Bakhmut. Russian mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin has praised tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops who are fiercely resisting near Bakhmut.
Meanwhile, Ukraine claims it shot down 11 out of the 14 drones Russian launched towards the country, likely from its Bryansk region. Russia must withdraw its troops from Ukraine to make a move towards peace, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said. NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg has invited Ukrainian President Zelensky to attend the NATO summit in Vilnius in July.
