Russia's Mass Missile Attack, Putin Wants Prolonged War

Ukraine's military has said Russian forces launched a total of 81 missiles across the country. Local authorities in Lviv region said that five people have been killed due to the missile attacks. Ukraine's Air Force said that it shot down 34 cruise missiles. Kyiv officials also said that Russia launched a Kinzhal-type hypersonic missile on March 9. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the mass missile attack on Ukraine as “difficult”. Ukraine said its forces killed over 590 Russian soldiers over the past day. The Ukrainian Military says Russian forces are continuing their advance in the battered eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. Zelensky said he can’t currently envisage a situation in which he would meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin. US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines claims that Putin is likely to carry on with the war, which could go on for years. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said NATO has provided Ukraine with over $155 billion in aid since February 2022.
