Ukraine Fears Pincer Encirclement As Russia Uses Bakhmut Tactics In Another Key Eastern Battle
Russia’s months-long bloody and gruelling tactics in Bakhmut are also playing out to the north in the Luhansk region. Ukrainian forces say the Russian military is reinforcing the region with more troops and weapons. Moscow has likely adopted more aggressive tactics in the area in the hope for a much-needed breakthrough. A Ukrainian commander highlighted the risk of encirclement which would make an area larger than Bakhmut more vulnerable. Ukrainian defenders fear that an encirclement would allow Russia to rapidly move towards the west after months of a stalled invasion.
