Khamisu Khan was born in 1923 in Tando Mohammad
Khan to the Baroch family of Sindh. He was introduced
to the Algoza, a woodwind instrument, much like two
wooden flutes by his paternal uncle and received
formal training from Ustad Ahmed Shah Narai, one of
Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s favorite musicians. Khan started
his musical journey from Radio Pakistan and went on to
be revered globally; he received the Pride of
Performance Award in 1979 and the Sitar-e-Imtiaz in 1982.
The British Royal Family was also a fan of the talented
artist’s work and declared that Khamisu Khan and the
