MASALA CHAI
Here is a recipe for making masala chai:
Ingredients:
2 cups of water
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of loose black tea leaves or 4 tea bags
1 cinnamon stick
2-3 green cardamom pods
2-3 cloves
1 small piece of fresh ginger, peeled and crushed
1-2 black peppercorns
2-3 teaspoons of sugar (optional)
Instructions:
In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, ginger, and black peppercorns to the boiling water.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the spices for about 5 minutes, or until the water becomes aromatic.
Add the tea leaves or tea bags to the pot, and let them steep in the water and spices for 2-3 minutes.
Add the milk and sugar (if using) to the pot, and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Simmer the chai for 2-3 minutes, or until the milk is heated through and the flavors have melded together.
Strain the chai into cups or a teapot, and serve .
You can adjust the amount of spices and sugar to suit your taste preferences. Some people also like to add a dash of ground nutmeg or fennel seeds to their masala chai for added flavor. Enjoy!
