Imran Khan is a Pakistani politician, former cricketer, and philanthropist who is the current Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was born on October 5, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan.
Khan began his career as a cricketer, and he played for the Pakistan national cricket team from 1971 to 1992. He was considered one of the best all-rounders of his time and led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. After retiring from cricket, Khan became involved in philanthropic work and founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore, which provides free cancer treatment to the poor.
Khan entered politics in the 1990s and founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in 1996. He ran for parliament in 2002 but failed to win a seat. He continued to build the PTI and ran again in the 2013 general election, in which his party emerged as the third-largest in the National Assembly. In the 2018 general election, the PTI won a plurality of seats, and Khan was elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
As Prime Minister, Khan has focused on fighting corruption, improving governance, and implementing economic reforms. He has also sought to improve Pakistan's relations with its neighbors, including India and Afghanistan. However, his government has faced criticism for its handling of the economy and for its human rights record, particularly with regards to the treatment of minorities and freedom of the press.
