Fire at Russian Defence Building, Ukraine Pilot Held After Crash, Putin Blames US-Led Coup for War
A fire reportedly broke out at a building belonging to Russia’s defence ministry in Moscow, as per TASS news agency. Russia's FSB security service said it detained a pilot of a Ukrainian light aircraft that crashed in the southern Bryansk region. Explosions rocked occupied Melitopol amid reports that Ukraine is laying the groundwork for a counter-offensive. Zelensky said "corresponding decisions" will be taken if Ukrainian troops are at a risk of being encircled in Bakhmut. Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska reached Poland for a state visit on April 5.
Meanwhile, Putin told the new US envoy to Russia that Washington's foreign policy "in the end led to the current Ukrainian crisis". Putin alleged that Western security services are helping Kyiv stage "terror attacks" in Russia and newly annexed Ukrainian territories. Putin has reportedly built identical copies of his Moscow office in his residences so he can work from home in secret.
