In addition, the kidneys produce the hormone erythropoietin, which stimulates the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. Diseases and disorders of the kidney can cause a wide range of health problems, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, kidney stones, and infections. Treatments for kidney disease include medication, dialysis, and in severe cases, kidney transplant. Regular monitoring and care are essential to maintaining kidney health and preventing serious complications.
