Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, also known as GWK, is a cultural tourism park in southern Bali. This tourist park is located in Ungasan Village, South Kuta District, Badung Province, about 40 kilometers south of Denpasar, the capital of Bali. Here stands Bali's magnificent landmark or mascot, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. The statue depicts Lord Vishnu standing on the 121-meter-high Garuda Hill. The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park area is located at an altitude of 146 meters above the ground or 263 meters above sea level. The area is also home to the Garuda Statue, just behind Garuda Square, where the 18-meter tall Garuda's head stands. At that time, Plaza Garuda became the focal point of a large alley of columns carved into the limestone that surrounded more than 4,000 square meters of open space called Lotus Pond. The huge and monumental limestone pillars of the lotus pond create a very exotic piece of landscape art. With a capacity of up to 7,000 people, Lotus Pond has a solid reputation as the venue of choice for large-scale national and international events.
