The wormwood plant can also be distilled to make alcohol, better known as "verte" or "fée verte", which is very popular in the Swiss and French Jura. The "green fairy" was also widely consumed in the 1880s in Paris by the impressionist painters as well as at the same time or afterwards by artists or writers such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Charles Baudelaire, Oscar Wilde or Arthur Rimbaud.
