BORNEO SAPE MUSIC
SAPE is used by #dayak people as a musical instrument to express a feeling either cheerful or sad.
In accordance with the way it is played, Sape' in the local language #SukuDayak means "plucking with fingers". The name Sape' itself is a mention of Dayak Kenayan and also Dayak Kenyah. While other parts of the Dayak tribe call it Sampe', Sempe, Kecapai.
In the daily life of the Dayak Tribe, Sape' is also used as a means to convey intentions and praises to the powerful; be it spirits or ordinary people in power. In addition, Sape' is also used to accompany various kinds of Dayak dances.
