MACzine returns with Doja Cat as its first covergirl
Pagesix can exclusively reveal that MAC Cosmetics is relaunching its magazine MACzine with Doja Cat as its first covergirl.
The digital relaunch is set to begin on Jan. 29, nearly a decade after the mag folded; the title was previously published in print from 2009 until 2017. The new cover shows Doja Cat appearing to smoke red lipstick, and the brand described the iteration in an internal letter as a "modern editorial expression of fashion, beauty, culture, and artistry designed to live across platforms and spark inspiration in real time." MAC’s global creative director Nicola Formichetti wrote in the issue’s first letter, "We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to over the last few months. To start, we’re bringing back MACzine."
Doja Cat partnered with MAC on a new lip kit and appears in a two-minute makeup tutorial video in which she applies products bare-faced and then a lace front wig; the clip fast-forwards two hours to reveal the final result, with the singer saying, "This is the final look, and I only wear MAC." Formichetti concluded the letter, "Let’s embrace this new chapter and create the future of beauty together. It’s time to have fun with makeup again."
