Oliver Stark says he intentionally avoids New Year's resolutions
In an exclusive interview with People, 9-1-1 star Oliver Stark said he "intentionally" doesn't make New Year's resolutions.
Stark explained, "I am not a New Year's resolution person — and very intentionally — not because I don't think I [will] stick to it. I just tend to think that if there's something I would like to change, I can do that on any random Tuesday." He added that he considers himself self-aware and makes small adjustments throughout the year, though he conceded, "Maybe I should be. Maybe I'm missing a trick here, and I should set myself some big goal as Jan. 1 rolls around." Stark has played firefighter Evan "Buck" Buckley since the series' premiere in January 2018, and the Ryan Murphy-created show aired its season 9 midseason premiere on Thursday, Jan. 8.
He also spoke about enjoying the show's action sequences: "I really enjoy that aspect of the show... it's fun to remind yourself that you're not all that fragile" while noting stunts are done "in the most safe circumstances" and describing the "feeling of achievement" when a difficult sequence comes off. Stark has also discussed Buck's bisexual storyline, calling it "one of my biggest joys of playing Buck" and saying he hopes they have offered "some kind of positive representation." He said he was "excited to delve deeper" into that storyline. New episodes of 9-1-1 air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu and Disney+.
