This is Tammy Brunette-Kaska, Who was Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash at Route 11 Intersection in St. Lawrence County LAWRENCE, N.Y. — A tragic two-vehicle collision in St. Lawrence County claimed the life of a Chateaugay woman and left her husband and three teenagers seriously injured Friday night, according to New York State Police. Troopers responded at approximately 9:19 p.m. on May 29, 2026, to the intersection of County Route 55 and U.S. Route 11 in the Town of Lawrence following reports of a serious motor vehicle crash involving a gray 2017 Chevrolet Traverse and a gray 2016 Honda CR-V. According to a preliminary investigation, the Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 55-year-old Ricky L. DeShane of Brasher Falls, was traveling northbound on County Route 55 when it allegedly failed to stop at the intersection. Investigators say the SUV entered the roadway and collided with the front passenger side of the eastbound Honda CR-V. The Honda was being driven by 49-year-old Jesse P. Kaska of Chateaugay. Also inside the vehicle were his wife, 53-year-old Tammy L. Brunette-Kaska, a 17-year-old male from Chateaugay, a 16-year-old female from Chateaugay, and a 14-year-old male from Brushton. Emergency responders transported all occupants of the Honda CR-V to Canton-Potsdam Hospital with serious injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, Tammy Brunette-Kaska succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Jesse Kaska remains hospitalized and is currently listed in stable condition, according to authorities. The three teenage passengers suffered critical injuries and were later transferred to Upstate University Hospital for advanced treatment. State Police said all three juveniles remain in stable but critical condition. DeShane, the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse, was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center with injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.
