NASA budgeted 200 kilograms of fuel for Roman's first mid-course correction. The telescope used about 18. Roman launched on August 30, 2026 aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy. Its first burn on August 31 was more than 99 percent accurate and used less than 10 percent of the planned fuel. Roman was designed around a 10-year fuel budget. NASA now says it has fuel for at least 22 years of potential science operations. Note: part of that gain is still a projection.
