PRESS NOTE INTERSTATE DRUG PEDDLER NABBED BY SOT LB NAGAR ZONE TEAM & VANASTALIPURAM POLICE RACHAKONDA FOR TRANSPORTING NARCOTIC DRUGS FROM BENGALURU OF KARNATAKA STATE TO HYDERABAD – SEIZED (50) GRAMS OF MDMA DRUG On a credible information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone team along with Vanasthalipuram police busted a drug racket by apprehending one interstate drug peddler namely Chalapurath Sumesh and seized (50) Grams of Contraband Substance MDMA (Methyl​ene dioxy​Methamphetamine) Drug and (01) Mobile Phone from his possession. CR. NO.800/2023 U/S 8 (c) r/w 20 (b)(II)(B) OF NDPS ACT 1985 OF VANASTALIPURAM PS OF RACHAKONDA POLICE COMMISSIONERATE. The details of the accused persons:- 1 : Chalapurath Sumesh S/o Muralidharan, Age: 30 years, Occ: driving, r/o. Devi chowk, Rajamundry, A.P state., n/o. Wadakanchery (Taluk), Trissur (Dist), Kerala State. He was previously involved in the following (02) similar cases in Telangana and Kerala states 1) Cr.no 1082/2021, u/s. 20 (b) (II) (C) NDPS Act of PS Vanasthalipuram pertains to transporting of 240 KGs Ganja. 2) Cr.no 33/2015, u/s. 20 (b) (II) (C) NDPS Act NDPS Case of Thirunelly PS, Kerala state pertains to 86 KGs of Ganja. 2 : Adhuu Shalbin, r/o. Bangaluru of Karnataka (Absconding) SEIZED MATERIAL: 1. MDMA Drug –(50) Grams 2. Net Cash Rs 2040/- 3. Mobile Phones- (01) All worth about Rs. 5 Lakhs Brief Facts:- ​The accused Chalapurath Sumesh hails from Trissur district of Kerala state, presently residing at Devi chowk, Rajamundry, A.P state. He is addicted to consuming Ganja and with the help of his friends he started procuring Ganja and supplying to the needy customers of Kerala and Hyderabad. In the year 2021 he was apprehended along with his associates while transporting 240 KGs Ganja and remanded to Judicial custody. Later he was detained in cherlapally prison under PD Act. In the month of November 2022, he was released from Cherlapally Jail and presently residing at Rajamundry, A.P. state. As his earnings are insufficient to maintain his lavish life style and on knowing the demand of synthetic drugs in the local market, he decided to earn easy money by selling of drugs and contacted his close friend Adhuu Shalbin (belongs to Kerala) r/o. Bengaluru who is a drug peddler and joined with him in supplying of drugs to the needy customers in Karnataka, A.P. and Hyderabad by getting his share amount. He used to purchase the drugs at the rate of Rs.4,000/- to Rs.5,000/- per gram from Adhuu Shablin and supplying / selling for at the rate of Rs.6,000/- to Rs.8,000/- per gram to the needy customers and earning illegally. The accused came to Hyderabad to hand over the contraband drug to his contacts. On 22.06.2023 in the night hours the SOT, LB Nagar Zone team along with Vanasthalipuram police apprehended the accused at Panama X roads, Vanasthalipuram and seized (50) Grams of Contraband Substance MDMA, net cash Rs 2040/- and (01) Mobile Phone from his possession. It is an appeal to the people that procuring, selling, transportation and consumption of the banned Narcotics substances is a crime and punishable for imprisonment for a period of 10 years. According to Section 31A of the NDPS Act, death sentence is awarded to a drug trafficker who has been convicted once under the NDPS Act for “engaging in the production, manufacture, possession, transportation, import into India, export from India or trans-shipment, of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances.”
